Ever since my art history classes in college years ago, it has been a dream of mine to visit Italy. I was fascinated by Italy's artistic cultural heritage and art innovations in painting, sculpture, and architecture. A long awaited opportunity finally came up to travel to Rome, Florence and Venice and I leave tomorrow! I cannot wait to explore the center where great artists came from, a place that influenced art movements, and where many art fundamentals and techniques I use today were developed. Art history did not end up being my major, so this trip will be very educational and hopefully more so inspirational. I believe art documents the world around you and it is very clear to see that in Italy’s rich history and culture.
Inspiration has been lacking lately so I am definitely hoping for a creative spark and getting back into it when I come home. To get the creativity going, I thought my first Italy trip would be a great way to kick off my first blog and share my time in Italy from an art perspective. I have my list of museums and attractions to see and I have a deep appreciation for where different styles of art came from and how it evolved.
To help document and capture my experience, here are some essentials I will be taking with me:
- Sony a6300 – I did not want to bring my larger and heavier DSLR so I am bringing this compact and powerful mirrorless digital camera. I have not used it yet and I will let you know how it goes!
- Sony E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS lens
- New 10.5” iPad Pro
- Sketchbook
- Laptop
I invite you to take this new adventure with me on my blog and follow me on social media! Ciao!
